Connecting Bold BI to EDI data source

Bold BI dashboard designer supports connecting EDI files.

Choose an EDI data source

To configure the EDI data source, follow these steps:

  1. Click Data Sources in the configuration panel to add a new data connection.

  2. Click CREATE NEW to launch a new connection from the connection panel.

  3. Select the EDI connection in the connection panel.

NOTE: You can also create a data source from the home page by clicking the Data Sources menu from left menu panel and Create Data Source from the data sources page.

Create an EDI data source

After clicking the data source, the NEW DATA SOURCE configuration panel opens. Follow the given steps to create a EDI data source:

  1. Enter a name and description (optional) for the data source.
  2. Upload a file based on selected file type data source.
  3. If your data contain headers, enable the option Consider the first row as header to treat them as headers while designing dashboards.
  4. Enter a valid element delimiter character in the Element Separator text box.
  5. Enter a valid EOL delimiter character in the End Of Line Separator text box.

EDI Connection

NOTE: You can preview data with file size less than or equal to 75 megabytes. You can also edit the connection information set here using the Edit Connection option.

Preview and data import

  1. Click Preview and Connect to connect with the configurations set.

  2. The Choose Schema(s) dialog box opens. The schema represents the key fields of data of the uploaded file. This dialog box displays a list of schemas in tree view and their corresponding values in grid for preview. Select required schema(s) from tree view to use in designer and click Connect.

  3. Now, the data design view page with the selected table schema opens. Drag the table.

  4. Click Save to save the data source with a relevant name.
